7th August 2015, Fundraising for additional Accuvein Scanners for each community nursing area in the Western Isles - launched by former councillor Iain a' Mhillichan' Morrison before his death at the end of last month - has won huge support throughout the community.
Thousands of pounds were raised at a collection at his funeral on Tuesday – and donations have been pouring in since then.
By this afternoon (Friday) it was thought that more than £16,000 had been raised - with a target of £24,000 in mind to buy a sufficient number of scanners to ensure that every hospital and surgery is equipped with a scanner. The scanners make it much easier to spot veins so that nurses and clinical staff taking blood can find veins in their patients without difficulty. Text by Fred Silver from www.welovestornoway.com
