2015

7th August 2015, Fundraising for additional Accuvein Scanners for each community nursing area in the Western Isles - launched by former councillor Iain a' Mhillichan' Morrison before his death at the end of last month - has won huge support throughout the community.

Thousands of pounds were raised at a collection at his funeral on Tuesday – and donations have been pouring in since then.

By this afternoon (Friday) it was thought that more than £16,000 had been raised - with a target of £24,000 in mind to buy a sufficient number of scanners to ensure that every hospital and surgery is equipped with a scanner.  The scanners make it much easier to spot veins so that nurses and clinical staff taking blood can find veins in their patients without difficulty.
